The lure of the instant

Online seems almost chocked full of instant gratification. You can twitter your thoughts, tumblr your findings and pownce your files with friends. I have to admit I have fallen for 2 main forms of instant gratification. Other forms have come and gone like beta flotsum and jetsum along the shore of my email account. At times they seemed good looking strangers that lured me with shiny time sucking distraction. However, none have stuck as much as twitter and tumblr for me. I’ll note here that whilst I did use it, for me pownce never stuck around, I had a lot of issues with their AIR application on my powerbook, I may try it with my new machine at some point but it has so far failed to stick as much as twitter.

The web is not a magic key to success

Some people seem to be under various misunderstandings regarding online business. A lot of these things have been said time and time again. Ok, maybe I am getting a bit carried away but it’s getting to the point you can’t be a piss taking so and so anymore without someone picking you up on it. It’s not just me, the rash of wrongly accused sarcasm lovers is net wide. You may shout “it’s the lowest form of wit” but I can’t hear you because I’m singing in my head (insert emoticon here).

Ten steps to a better DIY web design

Even though I hate to admit it, there are times when people can’t or don’t want to get a professional for a website (only joking). They may not have the money or the availability, they may just fancy dabbling in a bit of web DIY themselves. Just like with household DIY there are some common mistakes far to frequently made. In-fact you could easily make several series for prime time TV out of it. So, I thought I would take a look at a few simple and common disasters that are often the cause of more than one blot on the web. I’ve picked 10 most common ones that I feel if taken into consideration by even the most basic beginner can help their design.

Happy birthday Mr Web

Today sees the web reaching the grand old age of 15. Happy birthday Mr web.
