It is my birthday and I will yawn if I want to

Today I am officially a 30 something as turn 31. Still feeling a great age these 30s so I am all good. The big addition of Dillon (our pup we got yesterday) has managed to take over our life in 24 hrs and only added to the happiness of this day for me. I may be half asleep and nodding my head while I write this (not being helped by fact Dillon seems to go to sleep when I play Sigur Ros – if you have been woken up by a paw in face at 5am you’d also be nodding half asleep like me at this point). Bar a few grrs and ‘why have you brought this cross between Nibbler from Futurama and a face hugger alien to me?’ from Barley (our existing labrador), the meeting of dogs went well. The only incident so far was him using her as a mobile milk bar without there being milk or even having asked – snarled nose and much yelping ensued.

You know you’re old when……

As a kid along with every other British kid, I watched Dr Who sometimes from in front and sometimes from behind a cushion. There were a few things that got a kiddie yelp out of me, none so much as the Cybermen. Perhaps, considering my micro-chip fasination as an adult this was a little odd a choice for producing cushion grabbing. The root of this possibly stemed from going to a Dr Who convention with my parents and seeing one attempting a “meet and greet”. Whoever had that bright idea at Longleat really should have been questioned as to their sanity upon suggeting a man dressed in plastic fake metal with a modified bucket on his head and led for a mouth as a big huggy welcome for kids.

Taking a little time for yourself

Sometimes I really don’t take enough time out for myself. For a long time now I have eiher been working or asleep – that has been about the sum of it. Today, I have taken a bit of time out and although it was only a few hours I feel refreshed. As a result, I am going to do something I never do tonight and plan on an evening away from the computer. Whether the world will end or not as the result of this action remains to be seen…..

GOWD in need of happiness

Today my usual grumpy friday disposition was further declined due to last night’s laptop meet floor encounter. Yep, proving the theory that any computer in our house has to be made of titanium armour plating again; my vaio took all of a foot drop. Normally, it should escape such extreme sport outings, this time however it being the eve before friday 13th and all, my vaio decided to land half on the floor and half on a solid slate fire surround. The actual precision of it’s suicide attempt still baffles me, to actual cause this damage take great clumsy luck. The result is a list of issues and war scars on my vaio. The most of these is the fact if you place it on a flat surface it now wobbles as there is buckling on the casing. Along with this comes a list including a 4 cm difference between the left hand of the screen on closing, a vague burning smell and a wobbly clicky left mouse button.
