iTunes 7 eats memory for breakfast

With the release of iTunes 7 last night I was excited as I clicked the update button late last night. So, off my updater toddled and all was well…. that is until this morning. My iTunes libary is mainly a referenece of just links not tracks to my portable hard drive and not directly on my mac. Whether this was the reason for the odd behaviour or not remains to be seen. It upgraded and it did it’s mojo “Determining gapless : playback information” for each track in my libary. All seeemed good and after a minor grump about no albums turning up and figuring it was cos the tracks were on my portable hard drive, I went to bed not unhappy.

Blog Club : Apple

This fortnight’s Blog Club is focusing on Apple. The Apple Community at 9rules is a good resource for all things mac. I have always had a mac in the house for a while now. I remember first seeing the beige rectangle good old macintosh with the rainbow apple and being interested in the features which always seemed so more advanced than the windows ones of that time. The range of macs that have inhabited the living space in our house included one g4 un-lovingly called the paperweight as it was a refurbishment that was broken more times than a greenhouse during a stone throwing competition. Despite this burp in our mac journey we have now almost 100% moved over for both mine and my husband’s machines. The windows box has been confined to a dusty corner of the office and only occasionally gets turned on to shout at.

Karmic reality

If I was any other type of person I would probably have taken today as karmic revenge. I found out my new powerbook replacement is being shipped 27th feb, not what I would call priority one treatment considering this is the same time it took originally – although the last one obviously didn’t get any quality control. I consider this ironic as one of the (now many) arguments against my purchase of the macbook pro was the long shipping time. Looks like people will get theirs before me. I do however, stand by my decision for several reasons including the non commitment of adobe on univesal binaries and my not overly great luck that has already been proven with this powerbook saga… just imagine what a rev A machine would end up with my luck. So, all I can do is wait and then the fun game of compensation begins… oh what joy (never done compensation before so bit of new experience for me, so far along lines of bashing head against wall).

MacDud

It arrives, I am excited all day at work with it sitting behind me calling to me to open. Arrive home after driving at a speed of 10 mph so not to damage my precious cargo. Set up, boot up, wow what a great machine. Screen perfect – no lines, all is well. After a few hours of wonderment I then decide to install some software…. erm ok why won’t the cd go in? I think Ok, obviously having a blonde moment lets try again… nope that ain’t going to work. My powerbook is a macdud!
