Before I go into the full details of this a little bit of a disclaimer. I had the problems I’m writing about back in December but didn’t write about them as it was going through compensation and a long chore of sorting out. I’m in part writing this as a warning and in part writing this as a still not overly happy with the entire situation that Apple created.

As its probably known by everyone and their pets, the UK finally got iPhones last week. Along with a whole bucket of people so did I. The experience of getting one was rather ‘fun’ as I ordered from the O2 store online and ended up talking to trainee - not a great day for them to start.

Whilst it’s nice to have a shiny new toy, for me operating systems come down to one success or fail, does it make a difference in the way I work and improve things? I waited a while to write this post as I have wanted to live with and work with Leopard the new mac operating system before coming to any conclusion as to whether it was an improvement for me or not.

I’m not the first person in the queue when it comes to new products, I’m usually the person stood away from the queue watching from a safe vantage point. When apple announced their new keyboards though I couldn’t resist. I’ve written before about my old apple keyboard’s nifty additional feature as a snowdome. Of course, I doubt that top of Mr Job’s list of testing was rolling tobacco smoking designers with a habit for eating at their desk. Upon seeing the new ones though I felt a little leap of joy as the snowdome could be removed.

I may just be defecting if these arrive in the UK sometime before the next millenium and on a phone company I can actually get a reception on - yes I am praying not O2. As of today the iPhone was introduced. Yes, I do want one you know I do. It’s like a dream if it all works out - the screen with finger pointing could be great or a disaster being so big and finger contact. I can only assume it’s the same as Sat Nav and robust enough for prodding. The spec seems everything I wanted from Blackberry but they are just being slow about achieving.

With the release of iTunes 7 last night I was excited as I clicked the update button late last night. So, off my updater toddled and all was well…. that is until this morning. My iTunes libary is mainly a referenece of just links not tracks to my portable hard drive and not directly on my mac. Whether this was the reason for the odd behaviour or not remains to be seen. It upgraded and it did it’s mojo “Determining gapless : playback information” for each track in my libary. All seeemed good and after a minor grump about no albums turning up and figuring it was cos the tracks were on my portable hard drive, I went to bed not unhappy.
