The logo appears to be designed by children. If I gave my class of 8 year olds this picture to colour in I guess this is what half of them (the girls anyway) would choose.

As for the website; I'm sure that they'd be thrilled at the simple colours and cartoon layout.

I love the fact they want to encourage people to use the logo and come up with their own versions, but it is still a horrid design.

I also loved the 'Sounds best with headphones' bit, not sure why that is so important to be honest!

If this is the best we can approve as a logo, we should be ashamed. There have been some amazing submissions since this logo was released that have been miles better, a change would be excellent, but somehow I doubt it will happen.

Its rubbish - and they should be ashamed of themselves. I thought that style of design went out in the early nineties. And the website is dire.

...the website looks like a domain squatter's placeholder page. Even the "main" Olympic site. And the logo? Straight out of 1988-1992.

That is the most horrible thing I've ever seen! I would be embarrassed if I were a British graphics designer.

Did the Beijing logo get a redesign under public pressure?

I hope this one follows suit.
