Freaky geeky
I’m tired of testing out shitty betas of stuff I don’t need. I’m done with being a freaky geek.
5 reasons I blog – or damn another meme got me
I’ve been tagged by Cas and caught the meme virus again. It’s not like a cold so it’s not going to have me muttering, the only symptom is the following post. This meme is simply 5 reasons why I blog.
What season are you?
I think we all prefer a particular season, for me it’s summer. I don’t know if it’s because it is my birth season or anything, I just recharge with the sun. I also like spring as it’s a prelude to summer. Today was what I’d call the first ‘proper’ spring day we’ve had. The sun was burning through the sea blue sky, apart from the predictable spring rain in the morning it really was a breath of warm air. I feel somewhat recharged today.
9rules blog club: Anime
A while ago there was something called blog club and it basically was looking at a different community each week on 9rules. It went well and then due to many things fizzled out a bit. Well, now it’s back and this time it’s got a home over at the 9rules notes and is open to anyone. I’ve posted about it recently and this week sees the end of the first blog club with posts about anime. If you want to find out more read the 9rules anime blog club note.
A thick skin helps in this business
One of the things you probably won’t be ready for when you make a step up to freelance is the thickness of the skin you have to develop. Often you will end up in the middle of a poo throwing competition and doing a swan impression through the mucky water (calm on top, kicking for life underneath). Couple with that the releasing your design into the wild or wild clients and having them judged; you quickly learn a more fluid approach to stress and criticism. It’s not just being freelance though, having a thicker skin can help in a lot of instances and so long as you don’t become a rhino learning to cope better helps keep you off the window ledge.
