In the society we live in it’s often easy to assume money is the only thing that matters. We all have things we need to pay for and the system in place is financial. Whilst I don”t deny this, I also see the value in other non-money things. I also think these things are possibly far more worth than cold hard cash.
A long time ago one of the systems in place was bartering. This process is one I actually hold a lot of weight in and have used very often. It’s simple, you scratch someone’s back they scratch yours or a designated back you decide upon. Hardly complex and everyone gets something they wanted whilst the bank doesn’t get a visit.
Apart form bartering there is are other ways that benefit you far more than money. Someone helping you on a community (priceless), a smile when you need it or hug when you think the world sucks (money can’t buy that). It’s hard to see the non-monetry aspect of life but the best things really aren’t from cold hard cash. Non-monetry is anything that benefits you from emotional to gains and through to progress.
Online there is so much talk about traffic / revenue and so on, it’s hard to not look at the non-money value side of things. All business should think about it as a core principle really. Whilst having pounds to pay bills is great often it’s the non-monetry things that make or break a business. I have lost count of the number of people online that I owe this non-money too and just try my best to pay back as I go these people. Those non-monetry things have a karma accumulation I think and if you spread them around you find they come back to you in far better a number. Just as the reverse is true – you are a non-monetry Scrooge and nobody will bother with you and soon you find yourself in no loop land without anyone scratching your back. It always comes back to treating others how you’d like to be treated.
