Summer nights end

Good company and acoustic music signals the end of the summer for me. Sat outside at a gathering today the chill of autumn came too quickly over the group under the full moon. I sit here on my bed my puppy asleep on my warming my bones and reflect on another summer passed too fast. Summer’s are like the may fly seasons gone in the blink of a poppy field’s blooming. Sandal feet for the first time in months turn to ice and thoughts of wool socks. The nights are drawing in and encampments are being made with duvets to see through the cold coming fast.

The last gathering of summer is always one of poignant memory. That last time you sit outside eating with good company and listening to sun drenched music that drips off the gently dancing candle flames. My life is marked by last summer gatherings, their importance at the top of my consciousness. Where the warmth of the past season has melted even the most frozen relationships and turned to ash the hang ups we all gather when the sun hides under ice. Time to lock them away and chalk down another gathering memory and wait patiently for next years glow to fall again. Every year they seem to take ages to come and are over too quickly. May fly summers are a constant fleeting pleasure.
