@estaria: Welcome to diary of a website you are most welcome and a big welcome to the blogging community. I hope to see you about the 9rules notes as it’s a happy place and people are really friendly. 9rules has and will continue I am sure to have a positive influence on the blogging community. 9rules notes have proven that readers and members can have a sense of belonging which is important to get a 2 way street conversation going.

Very well put. I’m late to the party (call me a newbie) since I’ve just joined the wordpress ranks. I’m familiar with blogging but in a much smaller community and have only now had the courage to finally get out. Anyway, thanks to you I have a much, much better idea what to expect…I respect the 9rules bar that much more due to a well-written post about it and its recent changes. :) Also, its impact on the world-wide blogging community.

Im not so sure your opinions are ‘because you got in.’ I did not get in and posted an earily similar blog post yesterday about all this ‘exclusivity’ talk. Of course, being one not accepted, it is easy to be angry and upset and want to bash 9rules and all it stands for. Some may have thought this was what I was doing in my comments at Standards for Life by Natalie Jost.

Yep fun is the thing. Congrats to you too. I think a lot of foot and mouth comments have been done by various people. A community (amongst over things) shoulld be about fun, uniting, meeting and growing. Otherwise it is a pretty useless community in my opinion, hence my some of my reasons (and a lot of others) for wanting to join 9rules.

First of all, congrats on your acceptance to the 9Rules!!! I noticed almost straight away on technorati the bashing that started going on and it confused me slightly. I mean WTF, folk work hard to bring something fun to the web and provide a platform to let people be heard from. Exclusivity can be maintained as long as the demand exceeds supply and that is definitely the case with the number of sites accepted compared to those not. I don’t plan on doing anything different on my site than what I have been since before my name appeared on the list. I just wanna have fun, meet new people, grow more as a person through my creative outlet and enjoy what I do online. I don’t think that should be bashed?? I think we should all just be having fun!! I have a lot of respect for anyone that writes online or plays a part in community as without these things we would all be very bored. Anyway… rant over… Nice writeup :D

Being exclusive simply means that you have a talent pool. Some talent is good, some is not. 9rules takes the talent and creates a community from it. Large numbers of sites doesn’t make make it any less exclusive, what’s important is that it continues to skim only the top of the talent pool.

True, part of the reason I had to do this post. I will note if you look on the 9rules post I referred to the comments bring a cheer to me – the usual rule of minority having a problem are proven in their responses.

"Just seems sometimes the negative voices are using megaphones to be heard." That is the same with anything though, people with negative comments tend to be more passionate, therefore more willing to post.
