As the website says “the flock has landed!” So what is flock and what is all the flock about (couldn’t resist). Flock is on the surface a browser. I suddenly see people rather uninterested. This though doesn’t appear to be the end of it. For starters there is direct linking without the need for extensions to most of the usual blogs, de.li.cious and flickr. It’s all done in a rather grand fashion from what the developer release of Flock shows.
The up and coming of Flock has been sounded in the mountains of the web for a while and from what my initial playing has deduced was actually worth it. I will admit to being swayed, but not totally converted from Firefox. Essentially the browser is Mozilla frame, but the built in extras in the tentive developer release seem to be promising. I might not be a total convert as habit with Firefox is hard to beat. The developer release has a bug about the importing of favourites from what the site says; this perhaps is also holding back my full conversion.
I have also seen some anti-flockism. I am not sure if flock will revolutionise how we use the web. To me that is maybe a bit of a sweeping statement. I think that maybe the fact that is even causing debate is a good thing. I personally am giving it a whirl though and I like what I have thing so far.
The upshot though is that if you haven’t become a member of the flock than maybe this once being a sheep is actually the right thing to do. It’s not a black sheep either (this post also appears to be an attempt to see how many sheep references I can drop in). Enough of the wise crocks (Ok, I’ve stopped now). Flock is worth a look, a second look and even an install at developer stage. If you haven’t tried it why not? You might even like it and become a social web animal. I have heard future releases will make you a cup of coffee, give you a warm fuzzy hug and solve world poverty. If nothing else those are damn nice icons and the styling is great. Baa baa.

Now it’s taking over San Francisco too…..Flock taking over
There I go being confused again …. need more coffee.
Actually, every download of future releases will also lead to the adoption of an orphan sheep or goat in a romote village in Tanzania. Just one more way the Flock is helping flocks around the world.
