Branding isn’t just for cows

A while ago you could not move for the word branding. Today amongst many it is considered a normal consideration. There are the rare few though that appear to have not come around to the cult of branding. To me it is pretty much a no brainer with regards to branding. We are surrounded by branding and have been for a while. Marketing is based on the ideals historically from the notion of branding.

We exists in a branding saturated world. But, maybe this is to blame for the apparent blindness of some. It is like some kind of branding desensitization is at work. Recently at work we were discussing how various films raised the bar so those after it appear dull. There are many examples such as those after Matrix (only the first one; personally why on earth they did the others I have yet to work out) or after Lord of the Rings. Once the boundary has been pushed then you look at anything else with a shifted view point. Maybe just maybe this would explain why some are branding blind.

You can’t escape branding in this world – it has seeped into every part of our life. The subconsciousness of this act is clear. Like a good piece of technology – if it works you don’t notice it is when it does not that you do. If branding is bad or fails then it is noticeable. Slowly there is becoming a more widespread branding awareness. I can only see it growing and becoming the global religion. Until then though for those who do not recognise it and do not use the valuable assets it is rich in; there will be a constant battle to get them to see the error of keeping their eyes shut. Designers will still have to get their pointy sticks out and poke clients until they give into branding.
